Curio Cabinets
Eckbo began to take architecture classes with the former Bauhaus director Walter Gropius. It was built in Hawaiian gothic architecture and is a National Historic Landmark. The organization was modeled after European art academies, such as the Royal Academy, with Academians and Assosciate Academians. The floor of the entry room of Monticello is painted green since Jefferson wanted it to feel as if he were still in the outdoors. The Museum was founded in 1869. Its first home was the Arsenal building in Central Park. When construction finished in 1894, Belcourt was noted for its extensive stables and carriage areas. The Hayden Planetarium, connected to the museum, is now part of the Rose Center for Earth and Space.
